Inverters are used to convert power from one voltage to another . Example of this is converting the 12v from your car to 240v ac so you can power up your 240v appliances with ease. The difference between a modified inverter and pure sine wave inverter is a pure sine wave inverter has a nice smooth electricity coming out good for electronic stuff and a modified sine has a very square wave really only good for resistive appliances.
